Discussing feminism
I bumped into an old schoolmate and they asked me what I’m up to lately. So I said, activism, mainly feminism. We had a conversation about it.
What’s feminism about now?
The same as always: Women’s liberation, equality and challenging oppression.
More concretely, for me, it’s about challenging rape culture, raunch culture and pornification. More generally, my main aim is to change attitudes, because I believe that will also lead to things like equal pay etc.
How?
Raising awareness amongst people of all genders; including consciousness-raising for self-identified women. Uniting feminists (I call it inreach). Supporting existing campaigns. Working on initiatives like Women’s History Month and Feminism in London.
